Acapella Vocal Groups
The NVHS Acapella ensemble program is comprised of several small auditioned student-directed vocal groups that enjoy rehearsing and performing arrangements of pop, rock, and alternative music. "To Be Natural" and "To Be Named" are the flagship ensembles of the program, performing regularly for school and community functions. Auditions for available positions in these ensembles take place within the first month of the school year. Additional ensembles may be added to the program by request.
Chamber Singers*
This co-curricular treble ensemble involves approximately 40 soprano and alto voices in 9th-12th grade. Students must be enrolled in a curricular choir class to participate. Students who are members of the WildScats vocal jazz ensembles are not eligible to audition. These students will have the opportunity to explore a wide variety of challenging literature. Literature may include madrigals, motets, upper level classical literature, and other repertoire students might not have the opportunity to work on in their curricular choirs. The ensemble meets for two hours every Wednesday evening in the BFC Choir room from 5:15 - 7:00 pm. Students in this ensemble perform at the curricular concerts, throughout the community, and at various festivals. Auditions for this group take place during the 2nd week of school each year. Audition information and practice tracks are available on neuquamusic.org during the summer, and audition sign-ups are available in choir class during the first week of classes.
Colorguard (Marching Band)
Colorguard is the section in the Marching Wildcats that provide many of the visual enhancements. No prior experience is required, since the choreography and routines are designed for the specific members. As a section of the Marching Wildcats, Colorguard performs at home football games, the Labor Day Parade, the Memorial Day, school pep rallies, and any other time the Marching Wildcats are called to service. Members of the 2023-2024 Colorguard will be invited to perform along with the Marching Wildcats at the ReliaQuest Bowl on January 1, 2024 in Tampa Florida.

Jazz Band*
Jazz Band, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra, and Jazz Combo explore and perform a wide variety of music from the jazz world. These co-curricular ensembles meet on Wednesday evenings and some Friday mornings. Although you need to be in a music class in order to participate, some exceptions are made for rhythm section players.
Marching Band*

On January 1, 2024, members of the Marching Wildcats will perform in Tampa, Florida as part of the ReliaQuest Bowl and ReliaQuest Bowl Music Festival. Marching Band priorities include providing a fun atmosphere that still presents a great performance. Skills learned in marching band will help students gain access to college marching.
Neuqua Valley Symphony Orchestra*
The Neuqua Valley Symphony Orchestra (NVSO) exists to present orchestral music of the highest quality to our school community. NVSO presents two concerts each school year: Spooktacular in late October and the Concerto Showcase featuring student soloists in mid-March, in addition to performing at Eighth Grade Orchestra Night and on the Crystal Concert.
Membership is open to string students in Symphonic Strings, Chamber Orchestra, and Chamber Strings. Woodwind, brass, and percussion students are drawn from Wind Ensemble.
Orchesis
The Orchesis Dance Company rehearses and performs various styles of dance including jazz, hip hop, contemporary, and ballet. The company includes students from all grades, selected by audition of technique, skill, and performance. The program provides a unique opportunity for students to choreograph for the Orchesis Dance Company Showcase. We rehearse at the BFC in the Dance Gym every Monday and Tuesday from August through February. We hold auditions each May for the following year.
Pep Band*
Pep Band provides music at Basketball games and special events throughout the Winter. Anyone in band or another music class is welcome to join, and there is no audition. Pep Band takes place after the marching season concludes. The schedule usually involves 3-4 rehearsals in November/December along with about 10 performances at games from December-February.
Steel Band*
The NVHS Steel Bands are co-curricular ensembles open to any students from Band, Chorus or Orchestra. There are two bands, Blue and Gold, which rehearse Thursday evenings throughout the academic year. Each ensemble consists of 10-12 pan players and a rhythm section (drumset, electric bass, and percussion). NV Steel Bands perform at a variety of NVHS concerts and other community events.
Theatre
Theatre challenges students to think creatively, encourages risk-taking, and enables students to apply their problem-solving skills beyond the classroom. Involvement in the Neuqua Valley Theatre program enriches students’ high school learning experience. Through participation in theatre classes, workshops, and productions, the program gives students a skill-based education in hopes of building leaders in the areas of acting, dancing, singing, directing, managing, designing, and writing. A variety of dramatic opportunities are offered to students: children's show, fall play, winter play, improv, freshmen one acts, monologue show, and spring musical. Students are also encouraged to become involved behind the scenes in areas of technical theatre. Summer camps are available for all areas of theatre. Check the website for details in March.
Wildcat Fiddlers*
Wildcat Fiddlers is an extra-curricular music group that performs for the community during the school year. This is an optional group for those students excited about playing fiddle style music as well as rock, blues and other world fiddle styles. Students also have opportunities to plays solos, improvise, sing and dance. Students may also try their hand at some authentic fiddle group auxiliary instruments, such as washboard, woodblocks, mandolin, and more. This is an exciting group that enjoys playing at various concerts and extra functions during the year. Any student enrolled in an NVHS music group is welcome to join and should be experienced playing violin, viola, cello, bass, acoustic guitar, piano, banjo, or mandolin. Students not in an NVHS music class must email/call the teachers for consideration/approval. NO AUDITION is required. However, students who make the commitment to join are expected to attend and be on time to all rehearsals and performances throughout the year.

Wildscats has two performing groups: blue and gold. They perform with the jazz and swing bands, community music groups, and at NVHS events.
