FRESHMEN
frequently asked questions
Will there be an in-person opportunity to meet students in the club and to get more information?
Yes! Many of our clubs and activities will be present at Frosh Fest, which is an activity fair that happens in the evening the week before school begins. Many of the clubs and activities will have a booth with information about how to join and students who are involved in the activity.
How can I express interest in joining an activity?
Complete the activity interest form. Your email address will be sent to the activity sponsor!
Do I need to express interest in joining an activity before freshman year begins?
It depends on the type of activity in which you are interested. Special Interest Groups have prerequisites, and some activities recruit before the school year begins. Communities can be joined at any time in the school year, so you do not need to indicate interest in advance of the school year. Competitive Groups often have deadlines to apply, so it might be helpful to know those before the school year begins.
Do you have a recommendation of how many clubs I should consider joining?
You will learn quickly that time is one of your most valuable resources and balance is really important in life. Some students are very happy to dedicate their time to one club; some students join more. The easy answer is: it's up to you. The more challenging question: how will you spend your time so you have a balanced high school experience? We recommend that you commit to an activity that compliments your passions, interests, and schedule. Use the calendar feature to help you plan your commitments.
Most of the clubs are at the main building… how do I get there?
A school bus runs between the Main Campus and the Birkett Freshmen Center (BFC) before and after school. Before school, the bus meets at the gazebo outside of the Commons at the main building. It leaves at exactly 7:10AM. After school, the bus leaves in the afternoon by 2:23 pm from door 17 at BFC. It is parked at the curb.
How do I navigate the main building?
The main building is organized into 4 main wings labeled A-D. The A-Wing is closest to the auditorium; the D-Wing is closest to the BFC. Just like at the BFC, every room number has a letter. The letter will tell you in which wing the room is located. Room numbers in the 200s are on the second floor. Room numbers are also listed at the top of every wing entrance. Click here for a map.
